Resignation and Brownies

Brownie has decided to throw in the towel.

One equestrian judge held accountable; one Incompetent Administration to go.

Any questions as to why he's quitting?
Brown told the Associated Press that his decision to relinquish his post is "in the best interest of the agency and best interest of the president. . . . The focus has got to be on FEMA, what the people are trying to do down there."

UPDATE: 7:25 PM -GS

This statement is insane. I've been contemplating it all day; it's rolled around in my brain time and time again. Of course, the obvious answer is that everything that has been done in the federal [non] response to Katrina has been an attempt at buttressing the interests of The Administration. This just proves how asinine selecting Brown as FEMA head was in the first place: Everything done has been a political [mis]calculation.

Had Brown simply said "It's become apparent that it's in the best interest of the people of the Gulf Coast and America that I recuse myself from these duties," we would all have applauded and allowed Michael Brown to step out of the limelight into the shadows of history. He would have happily gotten his footnote in the history books. Had Bush, yesterday, or at any day in the process said: "It's become apparent that Michael Brown, whom I had appointed to FEMA, is an inappropriate leader for our disaster preprations and response," we would have applauded his strength and leadership style, for once.

Instead, it's all "In the President's interest."

This shows how much of a crony Brown truly is. He can't even handle it- he has to fall on the sword by his own choice in order to preserve what's left of The Administration's shredded credibility.

Other things that have been done in the President's interest in the wake of Katrina:
"Can you imagine how it would have been perceived if a president of the United States of one party had pre-emptively taken from the female governor of another party the command and control of her forces, unless the security situation made it completely clear that she was unable to effectively execute her command authority and that lawlessness was the inevitable result?" asked one senior administration official, who spoke anonymously because the talks were confidential. [Note the Fear of the "female." We're not talking about taking Presidential control of a National Natural Disaster, we're talking about "seizing" control from a woman. -GS]

One prominent African-American supporter of Mr. Bush who is close to Karl Rove, the White House political chief, said the president did not go into the heart of New Orleans and meet with black victims on his first trip there, last Friday, because he knew that White House officials were "scared to death" of the reaction.

"If I'm Karl, do I want the visual of black people hollering at the president as if we're living in Rwanda?" said the supporter, who spoke only anonymously because he did not want to antagonize Mr. Rove.
The only capacity these guys are even concerned with is their capacity at image-preservation. Looks like you're obsession with looking good has left you guys pretty filfthy this time, guys. Looks to us like you're more PC than the leftists you're so concerned about. Obsessed with the woman problem and having black people yell at you much?

You know, if you had transformed even a single Calorie of the energy you'd spend being overly concerned about women and blacks tainting your image, you might have made a difference. Scumbags.

It's like they all got invited to the junior high dance but they got asked by a group of girls instead of individually. And they're only 9, going to a dance of 13 year olds. And they only watch Tarzan films. that's how they seem to see the world.
