Global Extreme Poverty

The UN, constantly reminding us that the US is part of a greater globe, has released a study saying that member states' unfulfilled vows to contribute to the global effort to eliminate extreme poverty will have drastic and dour effects on the communities of this Earth.

Poverty hits everybody deeply. Even in America. Katrina has shown, rather, reminded, a compassionate yet naive country that, while not as extreme, the impoverished have suffered so greatly.

From the war against terror to the war against hurricanes, one thing remains the same: if only we could have reduced the poverty of these people, we could have helped reduce the pain.

And yet, The AntiC feels pleased, in a pervese way, that The Administration has not delved deeper into the problem of global poverty. Imagine the implications their King Midas' Touch would have had on this problem. They would, somehow, find a way to make extreme poverty even unbearably worse.
