Trampled Crosses

What's going on in Crawford is important and fascinating. The wilds of Texas, it could be explained, are at work, surrounding Cindy Sheehan's protest. But what seems to have actually come to light is that Sheehan and her conviction have caught the right entirely by surprise. They don't know how to react to her presence.

And, like the vicious reacitonaries that they are, they have begun to turn graphic, agressive, and violent. Neighbors have fired rifles, pulling the nonsense "This is Texas" line that sounds more like a shitty movie than a real threat; neighbors are trying to block Sheehan's camp out by extending a no-parking zone; and aggression continues to build as Sheehan's team also grows with sympathizers from across the nation.

But what is so disturbing about this is how ridiculous it all is. In one heartbeat, the Rightist "Support Our Troops" Christian operatives turn against their own needs because they hate the peace protests of Cindy Sheehan more than they "love" what they purport to. Anybody who thinks that a man who destroys white crosses is in favor of the dead troops is foolish.

Sheehan also is paying her dues- don't think this is easy for her. Her husband has filed for divorce because of her activism.

Anyway you look at it, things are heating up in Crawford.
