Criminal Defendant / former House Majority Leader Tom Delay says that despite his indictment for conspiracy charges, he'll continue to pull the strings of the Republican agenda in the house:

Asked whether he would return to the GOP leadership, DeLay said, "Well, I hope so. I can do my job with or without the title. That doesn't concern me."

DeLay said the GOP leadership wants to act aggressively in the next eight weeks to push an agenda of lowering gas prices, cutting taxes and enforcing immigration laws.

"I get to continue my partnership with the speaker," DeLay said, describing how he envisions his role. "The speaker and I have led the House for eight years. It's because we get along together, we think the same. We're simpatico," DeLay told "Fox News Sunday."

But he added, "I wouldn't call it running the show. I would call it working together to get our agenda done."

Note how at no point did DeLay's agenda bring up the protection of American citizens through either disaster or terrorism preparation; rebuilding the economic infrastructure of the Gulf; the health care of Americans in the more-than-possible avian flu pandemic; or building accountability standards into the House and Legislature branch to insure Americans against corrupt ideologue politiciams.

Why? Because none of that matters. The health of the nation has nothing to do with the agendized ideologue Republicans in office. They want absolutely no political or beaurocratic reform in government that would protect or provide or any American citizen who needs it. Because the current system of government continues to feed the coffers and egos of the ultra-rich at literally any cost to everybody else.
