Showing Progress
Our consistently-out-of-touch President obviously is not a reader of one age-old web log. If he were, he'd know that the way that the training of Iraqi armed forces is not so encouraging. The Prezzie:
The only thing that this maintains is your distance and disconnect between what you wish were real and reality. To you, nobody could have anticipated the breach of the levees; one battallion is enough to be proud of in two years.
You can say what you wish. But it's the rest of America that has to live with the consequences. Your ignorance makes you culpible.
President Bush said Saturday he is encouraged by the increasing size and capability of the Iraqi security forces, touting progress on a key measure for when U.S. troops can come home.We know that because you started this damn war you've got to maintain the PR for it, Mr. President. But this is no plan. This is unrealistic.
The upbeat remarks in Bush's weekly radio address came two days after the top commander in Iraq said only one Iraqi battalion is ready to fight without U.S. support.
"All Americans can have confidence in the military commanders who are leading the effort in Iraq, and in the troops under their command," Bush said. "They have made important gains in recent weeks and months; they are adapting our strategy to meet the needs on the ground; and they're helping us to bring victory in the war on terror."
