Al Queda-style terrorism- what's it all about?
Judging from their most recent video tape warning, it's about the Policy of the West as it concerns the Middle East.
Bin Laden has repeatedly stated that their primary complaint was Israeli Jewish settlements, and, by extension, the perception that the US overwhelmingly supported the Israeli cause at the cost of the Palestinian state. The secondary geopolitical goal of al Queda has been to drive the Americans out of the Islamic holy-land - Saudi Arabia - and to remove American influence in the region.
So their primary gripes are geoplotical/religious policy compliants. Not at all that the West should be complacent to this. Rather, they should at least seek to understand it.
Well that.

And they hate Boston-style liberalism and homosexuality. [Oh wait. That's Rick Santorum.]
