Somber Anniversaries

Tomorrow marks the 60th Anniversary of the US bombing of Hiroshima. NPR has some great stories on the shift in American attitudes to the bombing, to the atom in general, and to the legacy left from our actions.
There's a lot of debate and commentary on the action- one of the most compelling is that the bombing was as much an international political manouver as an attempt to stop the war- that it would solidify America's stance at the top of the world coming out of the Second War.

It is a somber moment in history, one that must be recognized by Americans as much as it is recognized by the Japanese.
