War Time President
Our President, let's not forget, is a 'War-time president' who vows to 'stay the course;' enough to make it a key feature of language and perception in his re-election campaign last year.
And now, Hamid Karzai shows up in Europe using the same language at the EU: Please Stay the Course. If Karzai is concerned enough to make an international plea for prolonged assistance and commitment, then it is a telling problem. Karzai has seen his country turned against itself many times over the years and learned the lessons of international abondonment. He also has seen the derailment of the Afghanistan cause even in America with our split attention quickly moving to Iraq and onward.
