Bushapean Vacation
So Bush gets bootylicious on us.
Is anybody else out there as confused as the cheeky members of the AntiCentenarian as to why, exactly, Georgy Porgy is getting so much attention on his rendez-vous with the former Soviet Bloc? Seems like, since staying bunkered down for the past four years and creeping out of his protective anti-terrrist rock, Bush has suddenly fallen into favor for his worldly travels. It's almost as though he realized (or somebody did...) that there's a world outside of the US borders. And as the notoriously untraveled American Cowboy President wanders the world with the lowest ratings of his career people treat him like a dancing Yeltsin.
He's out there multitasking like a beast: insulting Ostrich Legs Putin, promoting the spread of democracy, giving history lessons, showing off his best Dance Dance Revolution legs, and, to top it off, threatening Democrats in a way that will force the "nuclear filibuster option."
Does all of the world not see the PR stunt here? Not crying foul- [our belief is that an army of Bush - Robots have infested the Soviet break off states], but for such a miserable performance of a President doesn't deserve the attention it's getting. For one thing, Bush is touring relatively harmless small states in Eastern Europe and North Asia. Noble states, of course, who have strove for democracy amidst some brutal periods and done so with honor, but states of limited international interest; particularly for America.
Please take due note that Bush is not trolling the oil fields of Saudi Arabia, interviewing on Al-Jazeera in Qatar, strolling the streets of Pyongyang in aggressive multi-lateral talks with Kim Jong Il; reading Lolita in Tehran; walking the streets in Kabul with his friend Mr. Karzai; or even sipping alchy-free wine in gay Paree. The point is: Bush is doing little to nothing beyond mere international PR- bolstering his appearance in safe states for his own gain [even here, it remains to be seen: he has annoyed Russia with several of his appearances].
The timing is significant: His ratings are disastrous. Iraq is certainly the cesspool now that it was disputed to be last year. Afghanistan is a mess. Iran and North Korea, in direct reaction to American policy, are huge flares of tension. His own Social Security platform has met with cool response in his home country [$2 trillion cuts don't do much favors for many people, when you stop to think about it...]. His political party is bickering and over-zealous on obscene issues in such moralistic furvor that they have come under huge disfavor. His own party, despite a majority in all 3 branches, is struggling to accomplish much of anything against only a marginally aggressive opposition. His Allies are dropping; exposing war manipulation secrets; turning slowly away.
So don't believe it, kids, O Friends of Reason. Bush, once again, plays games- which we at the AntiC see little need to endorse or engage.

QUICK UPDATE:
For illustration of the idiodic applause being heaped on our PR thirsty president, see the Quad-City Times: "Bush-style diplomacy speaks volumes- President Bush dropped his Texas-style diplomacy plop in the middle of Russia’sV-E anniversary celebrations, accomplishing with actions what higher-brow diplomats might have fumbled with words."
And also shows us in the US how foolish the coverage will become. Totally blind...

Well, at least he's using his world tour to discuss issues of foreign policy...of 1945:

Thank God we've got a president willing to expose the evil that was FDR. I was terrified the GOP was gonna let him off easy.
Little late on that one, Georgy... pick it up a notch...
