Harriet Miers' Official Record

Newly named Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers may not have had any legal opinions that the public can draw from as a basis for their understanding of her legal philosophy or Constitutional interpretations [she has never served as a judge and certainly fits the profile of a Bush insider/crony]. But that doesn't mean we can't find out who she is and what she stands for! She does have an official record: the telling and vital role as the White House "Ask Harriet" web forum administrator.

Some excerpts:
Alba, from Texas writes:
Are schools receiving the necessary funding needed to meet standards set by the No Child Left Behind Act?

Harriet Miers
Alba -- Hello to a fellow Texan! Thanks for your question about funding for No Child Left Behind. I am glad to be able to address this important question because there is a great deal of misinformation out there about the funding for NCLB. The simple answer to your question is “yes.”
Deftly handled. And note how her answer, "yes," is in quotes. It's like Ms. Miers were making the quote-unquote fingers. "Yes." There is a long answer, but that is not as poignant as her "Howdy, Texas. quote-unquote YES" reply. She knows she's lying through her... keyboard.
Shane, from Michigan writes:
what is the presidents plan for bettering our economy and bringing us out of this deficit?

Harriet Miers
The President has a forward-looking plan to continue the strong growth of the economy. Just today, we have good news from the Commerce Department. They announced that growth in the third quarter of this year was 3.7%, above the average of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. And the unemployment rate, at 5.4%, is lower than the average for those decades too. The homeownership rate is the highest ever, including ownership of homes by minorities.

However, the President knows more work is needed to ensure that every American who wants a job can get one.

To build on his record of success, the President has proposed making the tax relief he called for and that was passed permanent, simplifying the tax code, making health care more affordable and accessible, adopting a comprehensive energy policy, reducing the burden that frivolous lawsuits place on the economy, and opening new markets for American workers.
Permanent bankrupting tax-cuts, flat-taxes, lawsuit tort reform, and globalized initiatives such as CAFTA all do nothing for the average worker and benefit, greatly the ultra rich. Bush has done nothing and has no interest in doing anything for healthcare. His energy policy has been a failed, bankrupting war paired with a dispair over the Gulf Coast hurricanes. And opening ANWR, a generally useless event that won't pay off for 20 years anyway.

Okay. I thought that would be fun. But really, it's just infuriating. But it also is some of her most accessible official record. No better, really, than any online web forum for figuring somebody out.

I, for one, have no interest in her vagina, and cannot prove, indeed, that she in fact has one. Nor do I care. I also haven't heard any "crying," but my experience is limited. Maybe the lefties of the world are more caulic than the ones around me.

We're more interested in her constitutional philosophy. As a lifetime member of the ultimate ejudicator of constitutional law, this is, to us, a vital aspect of her persona to understand.
