Bankrupcy in the Storm

The bankrupcy bill, and how it will drastically harm Americans most in need of financial assistance, the poor, has been a topic of concern for the AntiCentenarian. This year's under-the-radar reforms have made a declaration of bankrupcy, and therefore the protections to be gained from that declaration, all but impossible for the poor to attain. Following the physical damage of Katrina and the emotional damage of the government's neglect of the citizens in Katrina, the financial devastation, partly enacted by this new, Fristian bankrupcy law, would have totally broken all bonds of reasonable citizen stewardship in the Great Society.

It is shocking, then, that the GOP hasn't taken action against this bill. Shocking more that the Democrats haven't reissued their complaints, haven't authored new legislation denouncing or inhibiting it. The bill takes effect tomorrow morning- and, in fact, while no other action against it has been taken, the Justice Department, responsible for its oversight, has revoked its validity for some Katrina victims. The Justice Department, the most reticent faction of government, least capable of determining constitutional validity, has, essentially, claimed that this is unjust.

Kudos to you guys....
