Camp Casey, USA

Cindy Sheehan nobly is going home for an indeterminate time because her mother has suffered a stroke. It boggles the mind: Sheehan has this noble cause and has incited love and action amongst many Americans, but also indignation and derision on the right. She has personally suffered significant losses, which brought her to this place, and continues to suffer those trials. Her life is not an easy one; and yet she has inspired us by making the most uneasy choices she can: to question and seek accountability.

Many hope that Sheehan returns to Camp Casey; including me. If she does she will have made an ultimate choice, and one based on her sense of justice taht can inspire massive participation across the country. If she returns we must recognize that she's doing it because she has sacrificed everything in her already difficult life in pursuit of this justice.

And yet, she may not be able to.

What are the next steps?
Sheehan's choices are deeply personal choices; and should not be in whole determinate of how the left reacts. Her initial choice to push forward, up to Bush's vacation spot, and demand attention should be adopted, ingrained upon us, as a way we can still push forward in pursuit. We must hold our politicians accountable to us. Sheehan will have to make a choice, but so will we. What she began must be transformed into something larger than her. We don't need Sheehan herself to make this point- we just need her spirit.
