Hot News

Karl Rove's tendencies towards Treason have landed him a top spot in the hot news department of the day. After a faltering, contentious White House Press Corp meeting today, in which Scott dodged the question 23 times, some would say that, for once, the press picked up a story in a timely fashion [unlike what occured with the paltry coverage of the Downing Street Memo]. Don't forget, of course, that this story has been simmering for 2 years.

AmericaBlog has the best question of the day: Where have all of the Rove lovers gone? Remember, oh, what, 2 weeks ago when Rove spoke about the weak-in-the-knees Liberals and how quickly the GOP yelled their approval for their number 1 man?

My predictions: when those supporters come out, at least on the blogs, they'll swing at these points:
  • Isikoff, the reporter for Newsweek, also wrote the column about US mistreatment of the Koran in Guantanamo. The Right will latch into this as a kind of character flaw or something, despite A) the irrelevence to this case, B) Isikoff's historical record as a generally reputable, and politically impartial, journalist, and C) the fact that despite the Newsweek story, despite Newsweek's retraction, turned out to have some truth and had been reported in several other publications.
  • Rove didn't "Name Names," so that takes him off the legal hook when it comes to prosecution; Of course, more documents may surface other than the Time Email to Cooper, but this does not pull Rove from the Moral Hook. It also is not compelling evidence of intention- it simply means he didn't name names. He could have, and indeed did, provide the details of Wilson's wife, her importance, and her occupation.
What other points will they attack? What will the best way to approach them be? And who is looking at those blogs? What are they saying now? [I'm not, as I would assume to be obvious by now!]
