Freud and American Pop Consumerism

Freud's nephew, Edward Berneys, took Freud's conceptualization of human activity as irrational and drive-based, and repurposed it for PR. Thus, the birth of American pop- commercialism: anything that you can build a drive for will be bought, and what is better than Freud's psychological appeals toward drives?

You can sell anybody just about anything when you rephrase it on psychological drives. Proof in action? It's all around you.
