3:1 Odds

If David Chalmers of Bayoil has many fears of spending life behind bars, he should be able to find some comfort in the knowledge that we here at The AntiCentenarian have placed 3:1 odds on his upcoming Presidential Pardon. It helps when your company, Bayoil, is in the same business as one of the president's former companies, Arbusto, and when you are a minor player in a very big game:
According to ABC News correspondent John Cooley (ABC, 7/20/02), "American refiners' thirst for Iraqi oil has been ongoing."... Oil industry sources told ABC "the US companies most heavily involved are Chevron, Exxon-Mobil, Bayoil and Koch Petroleum, which use it in their refineries in Louisiana and Texas.
The Big Boys, the major players are involved in this, but we shouldn't be surprised. I doubt that any execs from Chevron will be photog'd in glorious orange any time soon.

Fascinating to me that for the past two years we've heard nothing but crap from the Right about how the Oil-For-Food Program is as corrupt as sin (which it is) and that Kofi Annan needs to be removed and the UN needs to be brought to its knees, and when it comes to the legal investigations, we find that Kofi has judgement errors, but the corruption and illegality, the things that CAUSED the harm from Oil-For-Food were brought about in the President's back yard.

Oil-For-Food: We create it; we loathe it; we undermine it; when we want to, we invade and blame it.

Don't worry, though, Mr Chalmers, you'll make it through. Your tough adult life as a US oil exec may very well be restored- or even better. Ambassador Chalmers...?

When we put our most passive-aggressive anti-UN ideologue in front of the UN as an Ambassador, and when we install a ghost from the past, a war criminal who has manipulated and ignored intelligence of brutal human rights violations and lied to the Senate about it, I'd say things will likely be just peachy for Mr. Chalmers.

But hell, Brit's pregnent, so we don't have to worry about anything. 2:1 Odds on her offspring not coming out okay in the end.
