Secret Torture Prisons "Deter" Terrorism

Thus justifyeth Condi.

In explaining that the information gleaned from detainees by the CIA in secret European and African prisons saves lives, whereby she seems to omit or ignore the bad information and the political results of using it, Condi say's it's all good to our Euro allies:
In essence, the secretary of State appeared to be trying to redirect the debate over reported secret detention centers away from the nature of the centers themselves and toward possible benefits - namely, defense against terror attack.

But the negative effect of the images of US mistreatment of prisoners in Iraq and elsewhere, plus the unpopularity of the Iraq war among many Europeans, may make it difficult for her to win over the region.

"The real issue here is that no one trusts the United States anymore," says Hurst Hannum, a professor of international law at the Fletcher School at Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
So the goal seems to redress the debate in terms of usefull information- which, thus far, puts The Administration into an even more disturbing position than if they'd simply admitted that they torture people and were going to stop it. Because we have yet to learn of useful information gleaned from practices in the detention prisons, but we have seen all the bad and misinformation that took us into the war, we have to assume that this is the information Condi refers to. She and The Administration, here, are actually pushing toward promoting bad information mis-used.

That's comforting, eh? At least, you know, she didn't want to sweep the problems under the rug or anything...

Also, Condi does not address a more important problem [and maybe she should not] about alienation and cultural divisions in Europe [and in America] which have pushed toward greater fractionalization and extremism in certain places. What am I talking about? Consider the very recent, very effective suicide bombing in Baghdad- pursued by a disenfranchised Belgian woman. This is deterred by the information being gleaned by torturing people, Condi?

Please.

Come on, think about it. It's brilliant! Secret prisons that deter terrorism. Because they're secret! It'll be so cool when we figure it out, dude, trust me...
