Torture in the Veep's Office
Lawrence Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff for Colin Powell at the State Department, says he has access to documents, both classified and un-classified, that lead directly to Dick Cheney's authorization for torturous practices by Americans in the war on Terror. This is not terribly far off from Gen. Janice Karpinski's assertions that while she was overseeing Abu Ghraib prison, a drastic change in policy occured when Gen. Sanchez, then head of Guantanamo Bay, came to Abu Ghraib. At this point, the tortures there began.
Documents that originate in the office of Mr. Cheney which track Torture back to him are a horrifying prospect for all Americans- they need to be disclosed and scrutinized. America is not a nation of torturers, and the citizenry does not condone it. This is terrible, terrible news; and yet quite expected.

I wonder, and perhaps it's the apathy residing in me, if we'll ever have a true fallout of legal proportions of these evil bastards. Because, this shit is what's wrong in government, ours and so many others. If Nixon can go down for his nonsense, what's keeping these guys in office? How is a blowjob a nearly impeachable offense, while the VP seems to be approving torture and and destroying the careers and lives of working Americans who don't agree with government policy? Is there any legitimate hope that justice will be done? Or am I too close-minded and naive about the subjects overall?
