Bush and Africa

This morning, I was personally invited by Brad Pitt to sign the ONE letter urging The Administration to help ease the pain in Africa with a package of material relief, debt relief, and development aid. President Bush, despite the urging of his close war-time compatriot [who, it should be noted, is owed certain political dues by Bush for his unswaying support of a failed war, which resulted in severe power-loss in his own country in his most recent election, and who faces enduring criticism for his support of the US], has agreed to nobly contribute a large amount of cash for food and material aid; but refuses to assist in development.

Fantastically appreciated, Mr. Bush, but don't misunderstand: this will not itself remove the problems; development is necessary to accomplish these goals. [And besides: Development is the ultimate terrorism-stopping tool!]

-----
UPDATE
Bush and Blair pledge for full debt relief of nations on the path toward postiive, uncorrupt reforms.

And without assistence, and because of broken promises in the past, 3 million African children are condemned to death.

UPDATE:
Campaigners wholly accept the current pledges by the US and UK, but point out that they fall short of implementing real development and change in Africa.

And Bono, ever-relaibly, warns not to fail Africa.
-----
Many may wonder why we at the AntiC continuously promote the ONE campaign and her allies. The reason is simple: Right now, when it comes to Africa aid and development, this campaign seeks to accomplish something. And it does so without ever asking for money from us. I support it because it requests the right to use my name, and nothing more, to help Africa. And I will happily surrender my name for that cause. It is the simplest, absolute least-demanding thing any of us can do to help; and I frankly am unsure why we are all not doing this bare-minimum.
