Humble Tom

Embattled House Majority Leader Tom DeLay spoke Thursday of the importance of humility in public service and asked for continued prayers for Congress.

DeLay, addressing a National Day of Prayer event on Capitol Hill, said, "No man or woman of any faith or of no faith can truly love, truly serve, truly persevere, truly dare mighty deeds, truly hope for the future or truly honor the past, without a humble heart."
....

"Think of what we could accomplish if we checked our pride at the door," he said. "If we spent less time on our soapboxes and more time on our knees."

DeLay received a standing ovation after his 10-minute speech, the New York Times reports.

The majority leader's remarks came a day after two Republicans on the House ethics committee announced they will step aside from any investigation of DeLay, because their contributions to DeLay's defense funds could lead others to question their impartiality.
GWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH....

Eh.... excuse me.

Oh, holy moly... I just realized that this entire article was written sans-irony... Amazing! Not that the ebulliently-bombastic "Hammer" DeLay isn't humble or anything. Humility includes outright near-violent retaliation against "activist judges," doesn't it? Humility includes carving up your home state districts so that you can exert more conservative political control, doesn't it? Humility includes sending Homeland Security jets out to hunt the Democrats who have run to protect against that measure, doesn't it?

And, with full ironic intentions, but that nevertheless presents a useful internet-based metaphoric statement, The AntiCentenarian presents the search for that perfect picture of Mr DeLay on his knees, for, after all, Humble Tom, the picture communicates much more than the transcript; the action more than the speech. And in glorious color, Mr. DeLay's Humility! :

"A Picture is worth a thousands words," and there ain't none of em that fulfill this humble request.
