Social Security Through the Years: A Fond Remembrance
Because this blog is green and untested, and more importantly, drastically unfocused with a malignant case of "wandering topic syndrome" I'm going to post this quick snippet of a thought experiment.
Consider, if you will, the case of integenerational political evolution: how the political ideologies and concepts from one generation shift as needs or political situations change over time. For instance: In America, FDR and the Great Depression brought to us a system of retirement income and protection for those of a certain age, the goal of which is to maintain their comfortable existence in American society as a reward of sorts for their years of society-building labor. The change in times, of course, will allow our current majority political ideology to pretend it can fix the flaws of that system by removing the protective nature of at least a portion of the overall funding. They can't quite fix it all, but they want to at least "Fix" what they can- by shuffling funds from one coffer (our social security guarantees) to another (that oh-so-pleasant stock market).
{I can't forget my latin: qui bono...?}
That is a strange example of intergenerational political evolution. Now, consider interGENUS political evolution. The tiny men with tiny skulls way back when, the half-ape half-man creature worked to protect their elderly. Why? I can't say- my brain has evolved far beyond the simple-minded empathy of our evolutionary forebearers...
(Sarcasm Warning: The above litany contains passages of sarcasm and/or irony)
