Bored to Death

Those wily twenty-first century Minutemen have abandoned the prospects [for now] of patrolling the border between Arizona and Mexico.
"The operation is continuing, but it's not under the Minuteman Project," Gilchrist said. "There's nothing for us to do here. We're bored to death. But people are staying here."
I think you're the surprised party, Gilchrist. Your moronic attitudes of self-imposed border-fascism has come back at you in the worst possible form for you and your [racist] obsession: It is unnecessary and unsustainable. Is Gilchrist's crew going to be cruising up and down the border all day long, with bino's and scopes ready and waiting? How do they expect to solve this problem simply by the creation of overt hostility toward people who see opportunity over the border to advance in their lives [Oh, that's right, it's the American Dream, not the Not-White-People Dream]. Is snitching on the border crossers really the solution to the problem, or is it that Arizona and America have quietly adopted these migrants as a vital part of our economy, and that if we regulate those who hire workers, the workers will feel less incentive to cross?

This is reactionary American bullshit, these "Minutemen." Hardly the scouts who gave warning of the oncoming British Army, these guys are more interested in ideological protective racism than anything else. How can I say that? I can say it because they violently refuse to accept the tough fact that our current, consumerist American economy not only accepts but relies on the cheap labor these people are willing to risk their lives to provide. We could just as easily seek to understand and humanely support the lives of these people , condem and mandate the system that supports them, and offer some way to gain back the tax dollars that we invest trying to keep these people out [If we were enabled to tax the income of these illegals they would literally pay for themselves, be accountable for their actions, and be registered in American systems so that we knew who they were].

Closing remarks from Border Patrol spokesman Andy Adame:
"Gilchrist said it (the project) was going to run for a month. He takes off halfway through and declares victory? Sounds kind of strange," Adame said.
